Basic Silk Painting with Lynn Baritelle (MACDB)

Friday, October 3rd, 1:30-3:30, MAC DeWitt Building Multi-purpose Room

Paint a silk handkerchief and learn basic silk painting techniques, including fabric preparation, gutta techniques, design on silk, painting with dyes, use of salt & alcohol to modify designs, steam setting of dyes, and final finishing of painted materials.  Students will be given  information on where to obtain supplies, books and videos.

MATERIAL FEE:  $10 for silk, gutta & dye       

$6 optional for painting frame & brush

SUPPLIES TO BRING TO CLASS:  Self-addressed , stamped envelope so instructor can steam the painted item and return it to student.

COST:  $25.00

Lynn Baritelle has been painting silk for twelve years and has a MA in textiles from University of Idaho.
